Instructional Coaching Endorsement

In partnership with USBE, Jordan School District is pleased to offer the Instructional Coaching Endorsement program for all licensed JSD educators who are or would be interested in becoming a coach or instructional leader.

2020-2022 JSD set a goal to offer the endorsement course to all current instructional coaches and specialists. They are offering the classes through the school year 2022-2023 to ensure that all current instructional coaches and specialist receive the endorsement.

Coming in fall 2023, to facilitate the learning of licensed JSD educators who wish to become instructional coaches, Jordan School District will provide the endorsement class after contract hours.

The program consists of three courses and will require the participant to demonstrate competency (see application).

Foundations of Instructional Coaching (3 credits)

The purpose of this course is to ensure that those obtaining the Instructional Coaching endorsement are prepared with the requisite, foundational skill-set to effectively coach their fellow educators’ practice to improve student outcomes and overall educator effectiveness.

Adult Learning Theory (3 credits)

This is the second of three courses in that program. The purpose of this graduate-level course is to ensure that those obtaining the Instructional Coaching endorsement are prepared to engage with educators utilizing research-based adult learning principles that foster effective professional learning design and coaching relationships.

Instructional Design and Assessment (3 credits)

The purpose of this graduate-level course is to ensure that those obtaining the Instructional Coaching endorsement can design instruction using research-based strategies that ensure students meet the standards-based learning objectives. This course is designed to be largely completed asynchronously.
